Muslims in Sri Lanka offer prayer in absentia for PK-661 crash victims

ISLAMABAD: The Muslim community in Sri Lanka arranged a funeral prayer in absentia for the victims of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) airplane crash to express deep grief and sorrow over the unfortunate incident in Pakistan. 

PIA aircraft PK-661 was crashed near Havelian while heading to Islamabad from Chitral on 7th December 2016, killing all 48 passengers on board, says a press release received here today from Colombo.

Famous singer-turned televangelist and media personality Junaid Jamshed was also aboard the ill-fated flight.

The press release said the Muslim community arranged the funeral prayer after Jummah Prayer at Dewatgha Mosque, Colombo-7.

The High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Maj Gen (R) Syed Shakeel Hussain attended the absentee funeral prayer along with officers of the High Commission.

The participants of the funeral expressed their deep condolences for the families of those who have lost their lives in this unfortunate incident. They conveyed their sympathies and prayers with the bereaved families.
