Plea filed against ‘defective performance’ of Sindh Health Care Commission

KARACHI: A plea has been filed in the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday against flawed performance of the Sindh Health Care Commission, ARY News reported.

The complainant said the number of sub-standard and unregistered hospitals and clinics were rising in the megalopolis.

He said the Sindh Health Care Commission had shown negligence in Nishwa’s case as well. At least 95 nurses’ were untrained in Darul Sehat hospital, he added.

He wondered on imposition of only Rs0.5 million fine on such a big negligence.

The plaintiff requested the high court to summon performance report of the Sindh Health Care Commission. He said the commission was responsible for complete monitoring of hospitals, clinics and other health facilities in the province.

The SHC has sought reply from the Sindh government and other parties and directed the health care commission to bring performance report in the next hearing on May 2.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the report of Sindh Health Care Commission, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah here on Wednesday directed to seal Darul Sehat Hospital over negligence, violation of rules and administering wrong injection to nine-month-old Nishwa.

The commission in its report had recommended a monetary penalty of Rs500,000 on Dar ul Sehat Hospital and ordered the medical facility to sack the ‘untrained’ staff in wake of mistreatment and resultant death of toddler girl Nishwa.
