GILGIT: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Sunday inaugurated the newly constructed building of Gilgit Baltistan Legislative Assembly in Gilgit.
The state of the art assembly building has been completed at a cost of Rs910 million.
Earlier, upon his arrival the prime minister was received at Gilgit Airport by Governor Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman and other high officials.
PM Abbasi paid a visit to the Yadgar-e- Shaudah in Chinar Garden where he laid floral wreath at Yadgar and offered Fatiha for the heroes and martyrs of the liberation war of Gilgit Baltistan.
He then laid foundation stone of Gilgit Naltar expressway road project.The project will be completed at a cost of 2.6 billion rupees in three years.
Gilgit Naltar expressway project after completion will reduce travel distance from two hours to half-an-hour and help promote tourism in the area.
Abbasi also laid foundation stone of Gilgit Baltistan secretariat project.
Addressing the joint session of Gilgit Baltistan Legislative assembly and Gilgit Baltistan Council, he said the region is base of CPEC and people of GB will get more benefits from it.
Earlier, Chief Minister Hafeez-ur-Rehman in his address thanked the premier and termed his visit a milestone in the history of GB.
Minister Kashmir Affairs Gilgit-Baltistan Muhammad Barjees Tahir, and Governor Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan attended the session.
