PM Imran directs provision of health, education facilities in tribal areas

PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday directed the authorities to provide health, education and utilities to the people of tribal areas.

Chairing a high-level meeting on KP-FATA merger in Peshawar, Prime Minister Imran Khan ordered to constitute an implementation committee headed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister and governor for every tribal district.

 He said the provincial ministers and senators hailing from the respective tribal districts should also be included in the committees.

PM Imran Khan was also briefed on the progress of KP-FATA merger in the meeting. KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Governor Shah Farman, chief secretary, IGP and other high officials were present in the meeting.

PM promises uplift of tribal areas very soon

It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Imran Khan, on September 11, had chaired a high-level meeting to overview the arrangements for the implementation of the merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Asad Umar, Law Minister Farogh Naseem, Minister for Religious Affairs Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, Adviser to the prime minister Shehzad Arbab, Governor KP Shah Farman, Chief Minister KP Mehmood Khan, federal and provincial secretaries of concerned departments and other officials.

The meeting had made several important decisions regarding the merger of FATA with KP and the tribal people. The prime minister had said the federal government would provide more resources for the development of erstwhile FATA.
