PM briefs cabinet about 'successful' visit to China

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday briefed the federal cabinet about his maiden visit to China, saying the visit remained more successful than expected.
A meeting of the federal cabinet with the prime minister in the chair was held in the capital today.
He took members of the cabinet into confidence on various agreements and memorandum of understanding signed with Beijing during the four-day official tour.
The premier said China has assured to extend every sort of assistance to Pakistan to help it shore up its economy and state finances.
The cabinet discussed and approved a 21-point agenda and also reviewed the implementation of its past decisions. It approved appointment of Riaz Memon as new chairman Trading Corporation of Pakistan
The cabinet also sanctioned treaties pertaining to the exchange of prisoners with England and a summary, allowing the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to issue a tax directory.
Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera was appointed Secretary Investment Board, while the cabinet sanctioned issuance of license of Liberty Airlines.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan imposed a ban on medical treatment of ministers and other top government officials abroad at the state’s expense.
Federal ministers, state ministers, cabinet members and all advisers and special assistants will no longer be able to go abroad for treatment at taxpayers’ expense. The ban came into effect with immediate effect.
The Cabinet Division has also issued a notification in this regard. The notification says the order also applies to federal secretaries and divisional in-charge(s) of different ministries.
