Govt is committed to develop Balochistan: PM Imran Khan

QUETTA: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday reiterated his resolve for development of Balochistan and said it’s prime responsibility of the state to provide protection, health, education and other basic facilities to its citizens.

“We are trying to establish more centres for training in Balochistan.”


This he stated while addressing a ceremony in Quetta, after performing groundbreaking of Balochistan Medical Complex and Quetta- Zhob (N-50 motorway), CPEC western alignment leading, here in Quetta today.

The premier said he is happy to see Chief Minister Jam Kamal, who feels the pain of the people of Balochistan.

PM Khan regretted that Balochistan was neglected in the past and was only remembered at the time of elections in the country.

“Our focus is to develop Balochistan”, he continued.

Highlighting the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said western part of the project was supposed to be completed earlier.

He thanked Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa for extending his support for the development work in Balochistan.

The premier said work was underway for Quetta-Taftan railway track.

Imran Khan said the incumbent government is also mulling over to introduce a comprehensive local bodies system in Balochistan.

‘Balochistan was ignored in past’

Addressing the ceremony, Jam Kamal Khan regretted that development of Balochistan was ignored in the past due to lack of accountability, sustainability, and planning strategy.

Chief minister Balochistan thanked prime minister for initiating work on the CPEC’s western route and termed the project as game changer for the region.


He said cardiac centre will be helpful in providing heart disease treatment in the province, earlier they had to travel to Karachi for the same.

Kamal showed vowed that Balochistan coalition government led by Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) was committed to resolve problems being faced by the people of the province.

He underlined the need of joint efforts for uplift of the Balochistan province.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had performed the groundbreaking of Balochistan Health Complex and Quetta Zhob Road N-50 as part of the western alignment of the CPEC.

The premier was received by Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Jam Kamal Khan and Governor Balochistan Amanullah Khan Yasinzai at the airport.
