PM Imran Khan rolls out 2 new national policies to fight climate change

Prime Minister Imran Khan has on Wednesday set in motion at least two national-level climate preserving policies to better deal with environmental issues as he was chairing the 3rd Committee on Climate Change meeting, ARY News reported.

The two new plans now in effect are National Climate Change Policy 2021 and National Wildlife Policy 2021 which shall see the establishment of a think tank to coordinate efforts between various ministries and to devise out of box solutions for climate change mitigation.

A special zone in Margalla Hills has been ordered to be declared a leopard preservation zone while the PM also approved of the Wildlife Information Center at Islamabad’s Marghazar Zoo.

“Pakistan established its credibility as a Green Champion due to flagship ten billion tree program,” said the PM. He placed an emphasis on the preservation of Pakistan’s National Park. It’s of paramount importance, he said.

It was our Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government that undertook the initiative of a billion tree tsunami and now the whole world is following in its footsteps, the premier said in the session attended by many federal and provincial ministers and advisors among others.

The Prime Minister directed the climate change ministry to review targets and revise goals for fast-tracking the steps towards preserving the natural environment.
