PM Imran wishes Hindu community a happy Diwali

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday extended greetings to the Hindu community on the occasion Diwali festival.

In his Twitter message, PM Khan said: “Wishing all our Hindu citizens a happy Diwali.”

Minister Information Fawad Chaudhry also wished Diwali to the Hindus celebrating the occasion. He wrote in his tweet: “Happy Diwali to Hindus in Pakistan and around the world, DiWali Symbolises Victory of good over evil, the struggle is continuing … #Diwali”

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser also greeted Hindu parliamentarians and the Hindu community. He said Pakistan is a pluralistic country and enriched with cultural diversity.

Diwali is a Hindu festival symbolising the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.

Diwali is one of the most popular festivals in Hinduism, which continues for five days with families gathering to exchange gifts and share feasts. Fireworks and festivities are an essential part of the occasion. This year, it begins on 5 November and lasts for five days, with the main day of celebrations taking place on Wednesday (today).

The celebration is also regarded by some as the start of a new year. The festival is usually some time between October and November, with the date changing each year.
