PM orders crackdown against banned outfits in Karachi

KARACHI: Several important decisions were made including a crackdown against banned organizations, during the high-level law and order meeting pertaining to Karachi, which was chaired by the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif – ARY News reports.

According to details, the meeting was also attended by the Federal Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Army Chief, General Raheel Sharif, DG ISI, Lieutenant General Zaheer ul Islam, DG Intelligence Bureau, former President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, DG Rangers, Major General Rizwan Akhter and representatives of all the major political parties.

The civil-military leadership decided to shift the Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs) to Malir Cantt or some other safer place. The Prime Minister directed the authorities for a full-fledged crackdown against banned organizations and to issue 'Red Warrant' of the accused who fled abroad.

The DG Rangers, Major General Rizwan Akhter told the meeting that for targeted operations in Karachi, Pakistan Army is not required at the moment, PM Nawaz Sharif insured that whatever assistance will be required for the targeted operations, it will be provided.

He urged the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to speed-up the ongoing Karachi Operation.

The Prime Minister also directed the concerned officials to take measures for blocking illegal sims and to form a committee for introducing a bio-metric system, for this purpose.
