PM orders to ensure proper electricity supply to industries

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed to improve electricity supply in order to get rid of power shortage in industries, ARY News reported.

Chairing a high level meeting to review energy issues of the country in Islamabad on Monday, Nawaz Sharif also advised that industries should also get gas supply for two days in a week.

During the meeting, Prime Minster was comprehensively briefed about energy situation of the country and the Jamshoro coal based power plant‚ Diamir Bhasha and Dasu dams and Tarbella extension projects was also discussed.

Nawaz Sahrif directed to speed up the pace of work on these projects.

“More solar power projects should be started to overcome energy shortage and also to provide electricity at cheaper rates”, he added.

Nawaz Sharif directed the Ministry of Water and Power to ensure provision of electricity supply to fulfill the demand of electricity from 2014-18 and to make him aware about the initiatives being taken in this regard.

The meeting was attended by Federal Finance Minster Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Water and Power Development Khawaja Asif and Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
