ISLAMABAD: Railing against the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing his family’s foreign properties, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the nation was heading in one direction while the probe body was heading in another.

While speaking to media after his arrival in London on Saturday, the premier said, ” When they found no wrongdoings in the government’s projects, they were investigation our private business.” The accountability stretched from his children to future generations.”

After performing Ummrah, PM Nawaz arrived in London to undergo medical check-up. He will celebrate Eidul Fitr there.

Nawaz said he asked the JIT members during his appearance before them as to what they were trying to probe. “What is going in the form of the investigation into the Panama Papers was beyond his understanding. The nation is proceeding in one direction, while the JIT probe in another,” he added.

The prime minister lamented that his family’s industries were taken over under nationalization policy by the then government in 1970 and asked for explanation.

In veiled reference to PPP Senator Rehman Malik’s appearance before the JIT, he said our worst enemies are appearing before the JIT.

The prime ministers looked determined about the chances the PML-N emerging victorious in the 2018 general elections and said anticipating their defeat in the elections, opponents were conspiring against the PML-N government.
