PM thanks caretaker federal cabinet members for their contributions

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Justice (retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk on Monday chaired a meeting of the caretaker federal cabinet at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The caretaker prime minister thanked the cabinet members for their valuable contributions as members of the cabinet during the tenure of the caretaker setup.

The prime minister also appreciated and thanked all the federal secretaries, officers and the staff for assisting the caretaker government in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.

The cabinet members thanked the premier for his continued guidance and support in fulfillment of their ministerial responsibilities.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which emerged as the largest party in 2018 general elections, is set to form the government at the Centre, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the help of independent members and coalition partners, including Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q).

The PTI has decided to include several leaders in the federal cabinet of the new government such as Asad Umer, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhry, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and Pervez Khattak.

The PTI claims to have garnered support of 180 members of the National Assembly and Imran is set to take oath as prime minister on August 18.

As soon as the newly-elected prime minister would take oath, the job of the caretakers would be over and power would be transferred to the newly elected government under the law and the constitution.
