PM urges Railways to further improve its performance

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk on Tuesday appreciated performance of Pakistan Railways especially the various initiatives taken under a strategic business plan and directed for further improvement of its performance.

He was chairing a briefing on performance of Railways in Islamabad. Minister for Railways Roshan Khursheed Bharucha also attended the briefing.

The Prime Minister was informed that as a result of right mix in service, the passenger share in Railways had increased from 13 percent in 2013 to 31 percent in 2017.

He was also apprised that Railways recorded a revenue of Rs50 billion in 2017-18 as compared to a revenue of Rs15.5 billion in 2011-12.

The PM was also briefed about the progress made in various rail network extension projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Nasirul Mulk said there was a huge potential for Railways to further improve its performance under CPEC by offering quality services to its customers.

Observing that the organization was following the right direction for its revival and sustainability, he directed that a comprehensive plan should be worked out to overcome the existing challenges for consideration of the next elected government.
