PM vows load shedding to end by 2018

The statement was made by the premier while performing ground-breaking of Bakhhi Power Plant in Sheikhupura.
Taking pride, he mentioned that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority had released Rs 95 billion for the project, but the government is completing it with a cost of Rs 55 billion.
“This plant is not a part of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) or any other foreign aid project,” the prime minister said. “It is rather a part of three power projects initiated by the government.”
The foundation stone of the first plant has been laid, while construction works on other plants will also commence soon, he added.
During his address, PM Sharif also said that running Pakistan was not an easy task and his government has started fixing things after enormous efforts.
He denied that he ever claimed of ending outages in six months, adding, “I only talked of overcoming the crisis in five years and I stand firm to end load shedding by 2018”.
In a veiled criticism, he said electricity is not produced by torching the bills; our goal is not just to generate power, but to produce cheaper electricity.
