PMD forecast rainfall in country from this weekend

ISLAMABAD: Met Office has forecast rain, dust and thunderstorm in upper and central parts from this Weekend, ARY News reported on Thursday.

A westerly wave is likely to enter in upper parts of the country on 15th April and would spread in western and central parts subsequently, Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted.

Under the influence of this weather system rain and dust or thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls and hailstorm is expected in most parts of Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum from 15th to 20th April with occasional gaps.

Rainfall is also expected in Quetta and several other districts of Balochistan on 17th and 18th April.

Moreover, light rain with dust or thunderstorm is also expected in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad in Sindh, Multan, D.G.Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan in southern Punjab and Lahore and other districts of central Punjab on 17th and 18th April.

Met Office has cautioned that dust, wind and hailstorms may cause damage to loosen infrastructure and standing crops particularly the wheat crop.

The weather department has also warned against likely landslides or flash floods caused by the rainfall, in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree and Galiyat on 18th and 19th April.
