PML-N advisory group meeting to discuss NA session, other issues today

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the parliamentary advisory group of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has been summoned on Wednesday (today) to discuss the party’s strategy for the next session of the National Assembly, ARY News reported.

The government has summoned the lower house session on April 12, while the opposition had also submitted requisition in the NA Secretariat for the session a week before.

The meeting of the PML-N advisory group will be attended by the senior parliamentary leaders of the party, sources said.

The PML-N meeting will brainstorm over the issues to be raised by the opposition parties in the upcoming NA session.

The party meeting will also discuss the contacts with the government over extension of the term of military courts, according to sources.

It is to be mentioned here that Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry in an interview to British broadcaster said that the country was still required the military courts.

The military courts were set up under the National Action Plan (NAP) in 2015 to try civilians on terrorism charges finally ceased to function on March 31 this year, as their constitutionally extended two-year term expired.

The PML-N meeting will also discuss the names to fill the two vacant seats of the members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from Sindh and Balochistan provinces after a letter of Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed to Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif over the matter.

The opposition party’s meeting will likely to discuss recent hike in petroleum prices, the ongoing political situation of the country and other matters, the sources added.
