PMLN subjects Musharraf's future to SC

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN), the ruling party in Pakistan, has subjected the matter of General (R) Pervez Musharraf , to the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan – ARY News reports.

According to details, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the central leadership of the party, which pondered upon all the aspects of Musharraf's trial. The meeting also discussed affairs relating to the exclusion of former President's name from the Exit Control List (ECL) and negotiations with Taliban.

Sources told that majority of PMLN members opposed excluding Musharraf's name from the ECL. It was told that the Government restricted the former President from going abroad upon the verdict of the SC and General (R) Pervez Musharraf needs to consult the apex court for getting his name excluded from the list.

It was decided at the meeting that the PMLN will not commit a political suicide, by making a one-sided decision on the issue, whilst it was also stated that all the legal requirements should be fulfilled regarding the former President.

Meanwhile, the Federal Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan briefed the meeting about negotiations with Taliban.

The Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif vowed that the Government will abide by all the court orders and all the decisions will be made in the national interest of Pakistan.

He added that the law is equal for both weak and strong, and the Government will insure highhandedness of the constitution at all cost.

Moreover, the meeting was attended by the party stalwarts including Minister of Defence Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, Irfan Siddiqui, Khawaja Zaheer, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Ahsan Iqbal.
