“In line with Prime Minister’s policy of providing maximum relief to the public, it has been decided to maintain the prices of petrol, High Octane Blended Component (HOBC), high-speed diesel (HSD) and kerosene,” announced the Finance Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar.

However, the price of light-speed diesel (LSD) has gone up by Rs5.38 per litre to Rs 43.35 from Rs 37.97 per litre.

The finance minister insisted since LSD was not heavily consumed, the surge in its price would have little impact on its consumers.

He said the government would absorb the full impact of maintaining the prices at the current level with an overall impact of RS 3 billion.

Dar made the announcement while speaking to media representatives during a press conference in the federal capital and termed the government initiative an Eid gift for people.

“This is an Eid gift for the people,” the finance minister said.

Dar revealed that the price of petrol would remain unchanged at Rs 64.27 per litre, HOBC at Rs 72.68 per litre, kerosene at Rs 43.25 per litre and HSD at Rs 72.52 per litre.

Earlier, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) proposed surge in POL products prices in this manner: petrol price by Rs.1.93 from Rs.64.27 to Rs66.20 per litre, HOBC by Rs 3.53 from Rs 72..68 to Rs 66.20 per litre, kerosene by Rs 8.62, from Rs. 43.25 to Rs51.87 per litre, HSD by Rs3.75 from Rs72.52 to Rs76.27 per litre and LSD by Rs5.38 from Rs37.97 to Rs43.35 per litre.
