KARACHI: An investigation team headed by SP Investigation on Monday inspected the site of Sher Shah blast, which claimed 17 lives, ARY News reported.

“Some evidence has been collected from the site of the explosion,” SP investigation Abdullah Memon said. “The evidence will be sent for chemical examination to the labs in Karachi University and Punjab,” police official said.

“A staff of 13 persons was posted in the bank, which was half of its strength on Saturday,” the official said.

“Five employees and two consumers were died within the bank,” SP Memon said.

“The explosion was an act of sabotage or a gas blast, could not be said currently,” police officer said.

“The premises built on a 14-feet wide drain has caved in,” the SSP said.

Two days after the blast, the district administration launched an operation to raze all illegal structures in the area.

Keamari deputy commissioner said that all the shops built on the drain are being pulled down. The two-storey building damaged by the explosion will not be knocked down for the time being as police investigating the blast are collecting evidence from the site.

He said the SSP investigation asked the administration not to demolish the building as the investigators are collecting samples from the Sher Shah blast site. The building will be demolished once clearance is received from the police, he added.
