Police apprehend K-Electric associate engineer involved in target killings

KARACHI: Police on Tuesday arrested a K-Electric associate engineer who was allegedly involved in ‘sectarian target killings’ in Karachi, ARY News reported.

Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) East Azfar Mahesar said a pistol and a without number plate motorcycle was recovered from possession of the suspect, Javed alias Wasi Raza. He was arrested by Gulshan e Iqbal police from near 13-D area, Lyari Expressway, he added.

Azfar Mahesar said the suspect was a close aide of target killer of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L), Ali Chikna.

Other members of the target killer team are Zohaib Pathan, Ali Raza alias Raza TT, Shan Haider alias Police Wala and Kaka Banda.

The SSP said the captured suspect recceed two party workers on direction of Ali Raza. Following completion of the reccee, both the workers were shot dead in target killing, he said.

“Nadeem Hardware Wala, resident of Lines Area, was killed on Kala Pull and Shabbir Sabzi Wala was murdered at his shop in Lines Area,” said the suspect, Wasi Raza.

He said both the target killings were committed in 2013. He said they belonged to the banned outfit.

On April 15, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abdullah Sheikh had revealed that six target killers including a policeman were arrested in Karachi.
