Investment-friendly policies give record rise to foreign investment: Omar Ayub

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan on Tuesday said investment-friendly policies of the government had given record rise to foreign investment in the country, ARY News reported.

He said this while the ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan called on him in Islamabad.

The power minister and envoy of Turkmenistan exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and energy sector.

Omar Ayub Khan said investment in energy sector topped the priority list.

The envoy said investors of Turkmenistan had deep interest in different sectors.

He said his country was interested to provide more electricity to Pakistan other than the Central Asia-South Asia power project. He said the proposed project would provide Pakistan cheap power.

The federal minister for power said Pakistan would reply to the proposal after reviewing.

In September 2017, the then president Mamnoon Hussain had called for launching of joint oil and gas projects between Pakistan and Turkmenistan.

The then president had called for augmenting bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, energy, agriculture and education. Mamnoon Hussain had said both the countries should also boost bilateral cooperation in science, technology, and infrastructure.
