ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb on Thursday said political parties and analysts are free to criticise the government, but they should refrain from doing politics on ICJ’s interim order in Kulbhushan Jhadav’s case as it is a matter of national security.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said any reporting on the interim order of International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Kulbhushan Jhadav case should be done responsibly.

“Sensationalizing this issue by media will not serve the national cause. Pakistan will vigorously fight this case without compromising on its national security,” she said while speaking at an event in Islamabad.

She said Pakistan hired the best legal counsels in this case and any speculations in this regard are baseless.

The minister of state said Pakistan has presented dossiers to the United Nations regarding Kulbhushan Jhadav’s involvement in terrorist and subversive activities in Pakistan.

To a question, she said that the Indian spy will be provided every opportunity and remedy available under the law and the Constitution of Pakistan.

The ICJ has announced its verdict in spy Kulbhushan Jadhav case, pronouncing that Pakistan should not execute Jadhav until final decision of the court.

“Pakistan shall take all measures at its disposal to ensure that Mr Jadhav is not executed pending the final decision in these proceedings,” said the court’s president Ronny Abraham.

He also ordered Pakistan to inform the tribunal that it has implemented the decision.

ICJ says Jadhav should have been given consular assistance under Vienna Convention.
