PPO in contravention of basic human rights: Fazlur Rehman

ABBOTTABAD: Chief JUI-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said Pakistan Protection Ordinance (PPO) was in contravention of basic human rights, ARY News reported Thursday.

Speaking to media in Abbottabad, Maulana said the ordinance would get amended in the Senate. Our party completely supports the movement of Hazara province, he added.

To a question regarding Musharraf case, the JUI-F chief said the case was pending in court, hence discussing on the issue was inappropriate, however he added that it was yet to be seen whether government could implement article-6 in the Musharraf case.

Being a Kashmir Committee chairman, he said, he felt that Indian forces would further violate human rights in Kashmir after promulgation of the PPO.
