QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Monday threw out an appeal filed by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Balochistan chapter president Ali Madad Jattak against rejection of his nomination papers for PB-31.
A two-judge bench comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Nazeer Ahmed Lango announced this verdict after hearing arguments from the appellant’s lawyer.
The bench upheld the rejection of Mr. Jattak’s papers first by the respective returning officer and then by an election appellate tribunal.
On June 26, an appellate tribunal of the BHC rejected the PPP leader’s appeal against the returning officer’s verdict that rejected his nomination papers for PB-31.
Meanwhile, the high court bench reserved its verdict on an election petition filed by PTI provincial chief Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind challenging the tribunal’s verdict to reject his candidature.
Justice Hashim Kakar, who headed the election tribunal, had dismissed an appeal filed by the PTI leader challenging a returning officer’s decision to reject his nomination papers for NA-260 and PB-17 Jhal Magsi.
The RO had rejected his papers citing an FIR with regard to discrepancies in his education certificates and concealment of the details of assets.
