PPP’s efforts against poverty alleviation are recognised globally: Bilawal

SEHWAN/ DADU: Pakistan People Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday carried forward his election campaign across Sindh visiting the towns of Sehwan Sharif and Dadu just days before the general elections.

Addressing a campaign rally in Sehwan, the PPP chairman said the role of the PPP in poverty alleviation has been appreciated around the world, and the BISP is now recognised as a gold standard against eradicating poverty.

He said the vision of Benazir Bhutto was left incomplete after her martyrdom, and it was their responsibility to carry forward and fulfill the dream to eradicate poverty, disparity and social injustice.

He said that he brought their manifesto which can solve people’s problems and reiterated their struggle was not against any political party but rather to solve the problems of the people.

He said the party will introduce people’s poverty reduction programme to provide employment to women to become contributing members of society. He also said they would also introduce hunger eradication programme which envisages setting up women-run centres to provide food items at reduced prices.

Furthermore, he said that PPP has a farmer-friendly manifesto which includes providing subsidies and insurance on crops to receive compensation during disasters. Therefore, he said the people should vote for them in the elections on July 25.

Not allowed to hold rally in Balochistan

Earlier while speaking outside the shrine of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan, Bilawal expressed disappointed for not being allowed to hold a political gathering and being allowed to visit district Naseerabad in Balochistan.

He said it was unfortunate that political leaders were not allowed to campaign on their freewill, but he would go wherever he could despite all obstacles, and the party is more focused on their party workers and determined to solves people’s problems.

Responding to a question about the public welcome in Punjab and the crowds as compared to parties such as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Bilawal said that he cannot comment of other parties but the reception in Punjab shows that people still believe in progressive politics.
