PPP, PTI workers engage in brawl at Hyderabad’s UC-28 polling

HYDERABAD: People’s Party and PTI workers were engaged in a brawl at union committee 28 of Hyderabad during local councils by election, ARY News reported on Sunday.

The workers of two rival political parties during polling at Ward-1 of the UC-28 treated each other with punches and blows after a heated argument. The workers also torn apart each other’s clothes.

The brawl started after former district president of the PTI Ali Hingoro entered in the polling station. People’s Party workers objected over the PTI leader’s entry in the polling station.

Policemen posted at the polling station for security were failed to control the violence. A heavy contingent of police reached to the spot to disperse the fighting workers of rival parties and control the situation.

The polling for Sindh LG by-elections has been underway in 15 districts of the province for multiple seats including seats for Chairman, Vice Chairman, Member District Council and General Members.

Re-polling is taking place in Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Badin, Jacobabad, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Larkana, Qamber-Shahdadkot, Sukkur, Khairpur and Shaheed Benazirabad.

The polling that began at 8:00 am will continue till 5:00pm without any break.

The electoral watchdog has taken necessary steps to ensure fair elections by conducting re-vote in 15 districts of Sindh after allegations of misconduct and foul play at various local council constituencies during the previous elections.
