PPP workers who attacked police to face investigation: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers will have to face investigation, who were found involved in attacking police, ARY News reported on Thursday.

Talking to ARY News, the minister said former PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and chairman Bilawal Bhutto were summoned by the National Accountability Bureau for their alleged involvement in graft cases.

He said four police personnel and two cameramen had sustained injuries outside the NAB office in clashes, however, the law enforcing agencies showed maximum restraint against the protesting PPP workers.

Chaudhry said those who attacked policemen will be arrested and the law will take its due course of action.

Replying to a query, the minister said unfortunately PPP Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar is also added in the list, who attacked the cops.

At least five police personnel sustained wounds when PPP workers hurled stones while trying to enter the NAB premises before the arrival of the PPP chairman and co-chairman, according to police sources.

Subsequently, the police personnel retaliated by baton-charging and arresting some party workers.

On Wednesday, Fawad Chaudhry had demanded Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership to tender apology over clashing security officials outside the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) office.
