Prime Minister Abbasi arrives in Karachi on his first visit


KARACHI: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi arrived in Karachi on his first visit on Saturday morning after being elected to the country’s top position recently, ARY News reported.

Accompanied by Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, the prime minister when landed at Jinnah International Airport for a daylong visit of Karachi, he was welcomed by Governor of Sindh Muhammad Zubair, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and PML-N leaders.

The Prime Minister paid visit to the mausoleum of Qaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, to offer Feteha and pay his respects to the father of the nation.

Afterwards, he held a one-on-one meeting with Governor Mohammad Zubair at the Governor House to discuss law and order situation and development projects. He assured the governor that the federal government would cooperate with the provincial government in different infrastructural projects.

A delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) led by Farooq Sattar also met the premier. During the meeting, issues concerning the release of MQM workers, development projects and security situation came under discussion. The MQM leaders demanded the release of their workers and opening of their sealed offices.

A smartly dressed contingent of Pakistan Navy presented guard of honour to Prime Minister Abbasi on his visit to the mausoleum of the father of the nation.

Due to the VIP movement on arrival of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the city, Shara-e-Faisal, the main traffic artery of Karachi, suffered a worst traffic jam causing hardships for general public as scores of ambulances carrying patients also witnessed entangled in the traffic.
