MIRANSHAH: Prime Minister Imran Khan along with Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, has reached Miranshah on a daylong visit, said DG ISPR, Major General Asif Ghafoor on Monday (today).

During a daylong visit of the area, the premier and the chief of the army staff will be briefed about the law and order situation and ongoing development work in Miranshah, the headquarters of North Wazirisitan.

Talking to ARY News, Information Minister of Kyber Pakhtunkhuwa Shaukat Yousafzai said, prime minister will announce a ‘big’ package for Miranshah today.

The prime minister is also scheduled to meet jirga comprising elders of North Waziristan and South Waziristan.

Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak, KP Chief Minister Mehmood Khan and other civil and military leaders are accompanying the premier and army chief.

The districts, formerly agencies in the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), were made after former president Mamnoon Hussain ratified the 25th Constitutional Amendment Bill into law earlier this year.

According to the constitution amendment, FATA will be granted sixteen general seats, four seats for women and one seat for non-Muslims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. The elections shall be held within one year after the general elections.

The amendment reduces the number of seats in the National Assembly from 342 to 336. The members of the National Assembly from FATA to be elected in 2018 election shall continue till dissolution of the Lower House.
