Private, public hospitals accelerate efforts to get licenses, registrations

KARACHI: Administrations of private as well as government hospitals have expedited efforts to get licenses and registrations for their hospitals, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital has availed transit license, which was awarded to it after officials of the Health Care Commission, Sindh, made a detailed visit to the hospital.

Incidents of negligence in government and private hospitals have increased over the time.

Medical Superintendent Dr Khadim Qureshi said he was delighted on issuance of the license. He said permanent license will be granted after six months.

Dr Khadim Qureshi said he would not tolerate any negligence by the staff.

On April 22, a resolution was presented in the Sindh Assembly, condemning death of nine-month-old Nishwa who died days after being administered a wrong injection by staff at the Dar-ul-Sehat Hospital.

The resolution was submitted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf legislator Seema Zia. It had condemned death of the toddler due to hospital staff’s negligence. The lawmaker had demanded strict punishment for those responsible for the death of the minor girl.

The resolution had said people lose their lives every now and then at hospitals due to medical staff negligence and no they mostly go scot-free, leaving a grieved family helpless.
