Priyanka Chopra surprised everyone when she agreed to collaborate with Salman Khan for film ‘Bharat’ but shockingly walked out to get engaged to singer Nick Jonas.

Director Ali Abbas Zafar wished her happiness for the future and said that she opted out of Bharat in the “nick of time” hinting that she was getting engaged which indeed turned out to be true.

But a few days after her engagement, she shot for Farhan Akhtar starrer ‘The Sky Is Pink’. Katrina Kaif replaced her as the female lead in the film.

Therefore, Salman Khan was not too pleased and in a recent interview revealed that it was Priyanka, who was keen to work on this project and had made several calls to his sister for it.

“She (Priyanka) had a reason to do that. It’s just that the project got stuck. Had we known earlier, we could have worked it out better.

“She was getting engaged and I told her, ‘If you are getting engaged, what’s the need (of exiting the project)?’ Then she said, ‘Shaadi karni hai’ to which I said ‘Toh shaadi kar lo’.

“Priyanka’s work was for 75-80 days. Shaadi ke liye chaar din ka preparation, aur chaar din ki shaadi, aath din ke andar ho gayi aur phir uske baad honeymoon. (It takes four days of preparation, four days for the wedding, it’s done in eight days and then the honeymoon).

“So, we said we will work it out. But she was very clear that she didn’t want to be a part of the film,” Salman told Bombay Times.

Salman Khan said he doesn’t know the exact reason why this happened, and added that maybe she didn’t want to work with him or work in Bollywood.

”It must have been very difficult for her to make this decision because she was very keen to work on this project. She called up Arpita a thousand times, saying, ‘I want to work with Salman’.”

”She has even called up Ali (Abbas Zafar, director) and told him, ‘See if you can get me something in this film’,” he added.
