Protest sit-in in Kunri for arrest of influential murder accused

UMARKOT: The relatives of a murdered farmer have staged protest sit-in in Nabisar town of Umarkot district, for the arrest of the influential accused involved in the killing, ARY News reported on Saturday.

The family of slain farmer Ghanshyam Bheel, has refused to offer last rites of the deceased till arrest of the third accused of the murder, who is said to be a local landlord.

The father of the deceased has said that the accused were forcefully taking their cattle on the night between Thursday and Friday, when his son Ghanshyam resisted them, the accused critically injured him with blows of axes. The injured was taken to hospital for medical attendance where he succumbed to his injuries, the father said.

Nabisar police has registered FIR of the murder against three accused and arrested two of them. Third accused, Yaseen Jutt, an influential land landlord is yet to be arrested.

The relatives of the deceased have staged sit-in at the American Chowk of Kunri town with dead body for last 24 hours to press for the arrest of the landlord.

Angry protesters have also forced shutdown of shops in Kunri, disturbing the normal life in the area.

Local administration has deployed police contingents in the city, as talks with the protesters have failed.

The protesters have said that they will not end the sit-in till arrest of the murder accused.
