ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday slammed the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) for staging drama outside the accountability court in Islamabad, ARY News reported.

“I ask Interior Minister if he is hell bent on making institutions fight each other. He advertently spoke the phrase state within state in English to make the world listen as if there was really something like this,” he said referring towards Iqbal’s statement claiming that Rangers took over custody of the court premises out of nowhere and barred ministers from entering the court.

He said PML-N orchestrated a drama outside accountability court in Islamabad, while hearing for the corruption references, filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on the Supreme Court’s order in Panama Leaks case verdict, against ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif was being held.

“Ahsan Iqbal spoke all what was mentioned in Dawn Leaks. He spoke same like Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif spoke in Asia Council,” he said.

Imran asked why the interior minister wanted to defame the Army by saying that the paramilitary forces were getting orders from somewhere else, while he knew that SSP Islamabad had called in Rangers to help them in security.

They are pushing the country towards destruction in a bid to protect a corrupt family, in such a situation there remained no way out except for immediate fresh elections, he said.

This is pertinent here to mention that that the Constitution of Pakistan, Article 190, says All executive and judicial authorities throughout Pakistan shall act in aid of the Supreme Court.

On this occasion, the PTI chief also counted all his transactions before the media that were required by the Supreme Court and said he had submitted all the documents in probe of money trail of his transactions regarding his property, except for a couple of transaction records which he had received lately with the help of his ex-wife Jemima Khan.

He said one could not compare his Rs60m property with Nawaz’s Rs300b assets. He said he had given money trail of 0.38m sterling pounds.

Lashing out at the ruling party for amendment in the laws to elect a disqualified person their party head, he queried if Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi wanted to conceal larceny of a that big thief.

“They are ruining laws and institutions of Pakistan to protect criminals. I feel that elections should be held forthwith because they are heading towards collision with the institutions and that too not for a big cause but to protect a criminal,” he said.

The PTI head added former NAB chairman admiral (retd) Fasih Bokhari had said Rs12 billion corruption was being done in a day in the country.

“We will make all-out efforts to stop amendment in laws to protect the thieves. I have already mapped out sit-in protests against any such laws. We will approach court,” he said.

He lamented that the way PTI should have stopped amendment in National Assembly, it could not.

On electing new opposition leader to replace Pakistan Peoples Party’s Khursheed Shah, he said, “No doubt Shah Mehmood Qureshi is the best parliamentarian among all, but all opposition parties would be consulted to field a candidate for the opposition leader.”
