ISLAMABAD: As the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf seek to gain more support for the next government, the party announced that it was holding dialogue with the Balochistan National Party (BNP) led by Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

PTI vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, while addressing media after meeting several BNP leaders on Saturday, said that the BNP has present six-point agenda in return for their support.

Qureshi said talks were held in a conducive environment and they can make further progress on the six-points presented by the BNP. He said the demands will be fulfilled for the greater benefit of the Balochistan and the country.

He said the demands were not unique and were put forward before other political parties but no progress was made. “There is no point to test those who have already been examined,” he said, adding that Imran Khan has the leadership skills to solve them.

BNP leader Sardar Jehanzaib thanked PTI for the support, and he will inform party chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal over the progress made during the meeting which can lead to a result-oriented dialogue.

He said the demands placed were put forward since the last eighteen years before successive parties but remain unresolved, while they want to solve them through democratic means.

Qureshi said he called Akhtar Mengal and discussed a range of issues. He said the PTI has never supported terrorism or extortion, and desired that all problems are solved in a democratic manner.

In reply to a question, he said that people of Karachi bestowed their mandated to the PTI, while the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) also has certain seats there.

However, he said that genuine demands by the MQM to solve civic issues and other problems should be appreciated, and those who shunned the MQM founder and his anti-state stance should be accepted.
