LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to field Dr Shehzad Waseem for the Senate seat from Punjab which was vacated by Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar after getting appointed as the Punjab governor.
The party has also approved awarding ticket to Shehzad Qureshi to contest by-election in Sindh Assembly constituency PS-111. This seat was vacated by Governor Sindh Imran Ismail.
Chairman PTI Imran Khan has given formal approval to this effect.
Shehzad Waseem has expressed gratitude for being nominated and vowed to do his best.
“I am grateful to my leader, Prime Minister Imran Khan for reposing confidence in me for Senate ticket. I will do my best to come up to expectations and will continue to play my role for the cause of Naya Pakistan,” he said.

Earlier, the PTI issued a ticket to Alamgir Khan, a social activist and founder of the Fixit campaign, to contest by-election on the National Assembly seat, NA-243, Karachi.
This was one of the five seats won by Prime Minister Imran Khan in the July 25 polls, but he opted to retain his hometown Mianwali seat NA-95 and vacated the rest.

The PTI has announced names of its candidates for the by-elections scheduled to be held on October 14.
As per details, Malik Khurram has been issued a ticket for NA-56, Ali Awan for NA-53, Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed’s nephew for NA-60, Mansur Hayat Khan for NA-63, Humayun Akhtar Khan for NA-131 and Aftab Siddiqui for NA-247.
The ruling party has fielded Sajid Ali for PK-3, Fazal Mola for PK-7, Faisal Ameen Khan for PK-97, Muhammad Irfan for PK-78 and Agha Ikramullah Gandapur for Pk-99.
Besides, Sardar Qadir Bakhsh has been issued ticket for PS-87, Owais Dareshak for PP-296, Shanawaz Raja for PP-27, and Zehra Batool for PP-272.
The voting for 37 seats – 11 of the National Assembly and 26 of the provincial assemblies – will be held on October 14.
A number of the National and provincial assemblies’ seats fell vacant after political leaders who had won more than one seats in last month’s elections resigned from all seats but one.
There are also a few constituencies of the lower house of parliament as well as the provincial legislatures where the election couldn’t be held on July 25 owing to the demise of candidates or some other reasons.
