PTI, PMLQ file petitions in SC seeking PM’s disqualification

TOP NEWS

According to details, PTI leader, Ishaq Khan Khakwani and PMLQ’s Chaudhry Pervez Ilahi had filed two separate petitions in the Supreme Court (SC), pertaining to the disqualification of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The petitioners took the stance that the Prime Minister gave a false statement on the floor of the National Assembly with respect to the Pakistan Army, which affected the repute of an honorable institution.

It was further stated that doing so, PM violated the article-62 of the Constitution of Pakistan and hence he is no more eligible for the premiership.

Earlier, the Registrar SC had returned Khakwani’s petition due to an objection. The CJ Nasirul Mulk later heard the appeal and asked PTI to again submit its petition for hearing.

The Chief Justice on Saturday formed a three-member bench headed by Justice Jawwad S Khwaja to hear the petitions. The bench will also include Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Dost Muhammad Khan.

Moreover, the SC bench will conduct the hearing of the petitions from Monday.
