LAHORE: The Special Court Central Saturday granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in money laundering case, ARY News reported.
The development came after Special Court Central’s Judge announced a verdict on Pervaiz Elahi plea seeking bail in money laundering case.
On June 21, Elahi was taken into custody from the district jail in the said case. The FIA had requested physical custody, but a district court denied it and he and was sent to jail on judicial remand.
Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) anti-money laundering circle booked Elahi and his son Moonis Elahi over money laundering charges minutes after his bail was accepted by the anti-corruption court.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Elahi and his son Moonis Elahi are accused of concealing vast sums of money in five Panamanian companies.
Earlier, Pervaiz Elahi was granted bail by an anti-corruption court in Lahore in a case pertaining to illegal recruitment in the Punjab Assembly.
He was accused of making 12 illegal recruitments in Punjab Assembly on grade 17 positions.
