ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Thursday that the Punjab elections will affect the general polls and any flaw in security will worsen the law and order situation in the country, ARY News reported.

Rana Sanaullah said in a statement that if elections are organised in Punjab then elections in each province will be held six months before the general polls.

He alleged that attempts are being made to conduct controversial elections. He said that security arrangements for Punjab elections are impossible in the current circumstances. Sanaullah added that the government is being forced to spend billions on security arrangements.

The interior minister said that the judiciary has always played important role in the organisation of elections. He expressed fear that the law and order situation would be worsened on the Punjab election day.

Sanaullah said that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) is always ready for elections and it is not afraid of going amongst the nation, however, elections would be dangerous without foolproof security arrangements.

On Tuesday, the interior minister said that the option of invoking an emergency in the country is available in the constitution of Pakistan.

“The option of emergency is available in the constitution and it is not going anywhere,” Rana Sanaullah said while talking to newsmen outside the Supreme Court flanked by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar.

Rana Sanaullah said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the law minister very clearly presented the government’s stance over the three-member bench in the Parliament.

Strongly criticizing PTI chief, the interior minister alleged Imran Khan created political crisis, which also affected the agreement with IMF. He said Imran Khan is also ‘responsible’ for putting the country into the judicial crisis, we are facing today.
