Punjab govt decides to issue Labour cards to industrial workers

LAHORE: Punjab government on Friday decided to issue Labour cards to the industrial workers of the province, ARY News reported.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar to review performance of the Labour and Manpower Department.

The participants of the meeting briefed the provincial chief executive about the performance of the department and steps being taken for the well-being of the industrial workers.

The meeting decided to raise the salary of industrial workers from Rs 15,000 to 16, 5000 per month. “The labours will be able to buy items on the concessional price by using their special Labour cards,” the chief minister said.

He relayed that the residential colonies are being constructed, whereas process of automation in the social security hospitals was also underway.

Yesterday, CM Punjab Usman Buzdar had directed to establish kidney transplant counters at all the Teaching Hospitals across the province.

Presiding over a meeting of the Human Organ Transplant Authority (HOTA) in Lahore, Usman Buzdar also announced to establish regional offices of HOTA.

He had said he would not tolerate unlawful business of human organ transplantation. He said legal action would be taken against those involved in this heinous business.
