TOP NEWS

The decision has been taken after the federal government wrote to the provinces for immediate prevention of adulteration of KERO with HSD terming it non-bailable offence.

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority has written letters to all the chief secretaries claiming that the price difference between HSD and KERO is prevailing at around Rs32/litre which could lead to adulteration of HSD with KERO and ultimately common men would have to face short supply of KERO.

The letter referred to the Rule 61 of the Pakistan Oil (Refining, Blending, Transportation, Storage and Marketing) Rules 2016 production, preparation, mixing or blending of any petroleum product adulterated with other substance which reduced its quality or efficiency below the laid down specifications was prohibited and punishable offence.  The DCO were empowered under the law to check adulteration in petroleum products. Moreover, the crime is also non-bailable offence under the law.

Following the letter from the federal government, Punjab Chief Secretary has written to all the DCOs to carry out random quality checks at petrol pumps and initiate action against the offenders.
