Hamza Shahbaz’s supporters want him to form a PML-N splinter group: sources

ISLAMABAD: Aides and supporters of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s son Hamza Shahbaz are urging him to form a splinter group and break away from Nawaz Sharif-led Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), sources told ARY News on Wednesday.

According to senior journalist Sami Ibrahim, sources have confirmed that Hamza Shahbaz’s aides and supporters want him to form his own party to come out of the shadow of his uncle Nawaz Sharif.

It is pertinent to note here that some supporters of Hamza Shahbaz raised “Hamza Hamza” slogans during Nawaz Sharif’s workers convention speech on October 4 when PML-N chief did not mention his nephew while congratulating party workers on NA-120 by-polls victory.

Hamza Shahbaz’s absence from PML-N’s NA-120 campaign also fueled rumours of rift within the party.
