Punjab govt ponders security after Qadri lands in Lahore

The meeting held at Civil Secretariat was chaired by Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and attended by the home secretary, IGP and top civil and police officials of Lahore. It discussed security situation in Lahore and the public meeting of Tahirul Qadri in view of serious alerts of terrorist activity and threats to his life.

Law Minister Rana Sanaullah directed the Lahore administration to remain in touch with Minhaj-ul-Quran representatives with regard to security arrangements and pressing them for changing the venue of the rally.

He instructed the Lahore administration that if Minhaj-ul-Quran administration persists holding meeting at Charring Cross, the district administration should ensure that 38-point Code of Conduct prepared by the government is being followed and implemented in true letter and spirit.

The police were directed to make foolproof security arrangements during the public gathering and told that no security lapse would be tolerated in this regard.

The meeting also reviewed security arrangements across Punjab during the month of Ramazan.

The law minister directed officials to beef up security outside the mosques and imam bargahs owing to threat alerts. He further directed for making strict security arrangements on the occasion of Youm-e-Ali (RA) throughout the province.
