Punjab Youth Festival on stake as judges found "bogus"

LAHORE: The Government of Punjab apparently made a fool out of the people of Punjab as it has been revealed that the judges witnessing 28 different records during the Punjab Youth Festival 2014, were not even the members of Guinness Book of World Records' team – ARY News reports.
According to details, the judges at the Punjab Youth Festival organized by the Government of Punjab, turned out not to be the members of the Guinness Book of World Records' team. Media manager of the Guinness Book of World Records emailed ARY News on Friday that the judges that observed the record breaking events at the festival, are not part of the Guinness Book’s team.
With this a new debate has hit the circles, weather it was a hand with the Punjab Government itself, or was it a deliberate move to engage the people into a fallacy.
These fake judges witnessed each and every event with great attention as if they were the real officials, members of the opposition parties also lashed out against the Punjab Government, when asked to comment on the news. They alleged that it was a planned move of the authorities to fool the people.
Earlier, numerous reports had claimed that massive corruption took place during the Punjab Youth Festival and several crore rupees of the people were looted by the authorities in charge of the festival.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Provincial Minister of Sports, Rana Mashhood denied the news and said that the Government of Punjab had followed all the formalities and judges during the event were certified witnesses by the Guinness Book of World Records.
He said that, it is not a minor issue, Punjab Government signed an agreement with the Guinness Book and the matter will be investigated.
Mashhood vowed to hold a press conference soon and to bring all the facts before the people.
He said that all the records during the previous festivals had been published on the website and later published in the Guinness Book of World Records, this is the first instant and a probe will be held into it, whereas Guinness Book authorities will also be consulted on the issue.
