Khurram Zaman, who contested election of chief minister against Murad Ali Shah, said he hoped the new chief minister will work for the betterment of education and health sectors and eradication of corruption.

Former chief minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah said he congratulated son of former chief minister and his friend Abdullah Shah.

“Nomination of Murad Ali Shah for this post is a decision of our party, while majority of the house is also in his favor. This way he is chief minister of majority hence acceptable for all,” he said.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s arrested leader Rauf Siddiqui while talking during the assembly session said Murad Ali Shah met MQM MPAs despite the party’s boycotting elections. He lauded the new chief minister’s gesture and said he also came to meet me to inquire about my health despite my being under arrest.

Siddiqui was brought to the assembly on production orders of Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani. He had been arrested on 19th July 2016 within the premises of Anti-Terrorism Court after his interim bail was cancelled by the judge.
