Pakistan, Jordan agree to optimise military ties

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Staff of Strategic Planning and Defence Resources Jordan Armed Forces Major General Nassar Al Athamneh on Monday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, ARY News reported.

Media wing of the armed forces, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said matters of mutual and professional interests with special emphasis on defence and security collaboration between the two brotherly countries were discussed.

“Both sides agreed to further optimise military to military relations particularly in training and counter terrorism domain,” said the ISPR.

On April 11, Tajikistan Defence Minister Sherali Mirzo had paid a visit to Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters where he was called on by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

A press release of the ISPR had said that General Mirzo called on COAS General Bajwa at GHQ.

Mirzo and Bajwa had exchanged views on matters relating to mutual interests and regional security.

During the meeting, the Army Chief had said that Tajikistan was a brotherly country and bilateral cooperation would help to establish longstanding peace and stability in the region.

General Mirzo had praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Army and its resolve to maintain peace across the region.
