RAWALPINDI: Salar, the 12-year-old running election campaign of his father and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML- N) leader Qamarul Islam, on Monday said that the love and support he is getting from voters has made his campaign for NA-59 constituency quite easy, ARY News reported.

Speaking exclusively to ARY News, Salar said that he thought campaign for his father, who is under arrest, will be difficult for him but the love and support of people of constituency made it easy.

Salar, whose father’s strongest opponent is former party leader Chaudhry Nisar, said that he feels the contest is only political and he doesn’t believe in vilifying his opponents.

About who he thinks the vote bank of the constituency belongs to, he said that people of the area are PML-N supporters and Nisar used to win from the constituency because of his association with PML-N.

“If Nisar joins PML-N today and we are asked to back off, we will not campaign against him but will instead support him,” said Salar.

It is pertinent to note here last month, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore arrested PML-N’s ticket holder from NA-59 Rawalpindi-III, Raja Qamarul Islam, in connection with Punjab Saaf Pani Company corruption case.

Qamarul Islam was set to contest polls against estranged party leader Chaudhry Nisar from NA-59 Rawalpindi and PP-10.

Raja got record number of votes in Punjab during 2013 election on the provincial assembly seat from the same area.

Earlier in the day, an accountability court also extended his remand by 14 day.
