ISLAMABAD: Police nabbed over 100 students of Quaid-e-Azam University here for their protest against the varsity’s administration after an increment in tuition fees, ARY News reported.

The federal police have registered cases against the students for threatening the varsity’s staff members and forcing other fellows from attending the classes.

Earlier today, the university had announced resuming its classes after a three-week gap.

A large number of students went on a rampage as the university resumed the classes, as what they claimed, the matter was still unresolved.

The university had suspended its regular classes after students went on a protest over a hike in tuition fees earlier this month.

On Thursday, the university administration and protesting students held successful negotiations, as what the varsity administration claimed. However, both parties could not reach a decision over students who were taken into police custody during clashes earlier.

Following the clashes today, the university syndicate has announced a three-member committee to review the sentences awarded to students arrested in police crackdown earlier this month.

The varsity administration has called in Frontier Corps (FC) personnel to control the tense situation.
