Railways’ workers announce to resist its privatization

LAHORE: Workers and laborers of Pakistan Railways announced to resist the proposed privatization of the institution and corruption in it – ARY News reports.

According to details, workers of Pakistan Railways from different parts of the country staged a protest demonstration outside DS Railways Office here on Tuesday. The protestors burnt tyres and chanted slogans against corrupt officers.

On this occasion, workers union leader Hafiz Salman Butt said that the corrupt officers are responsible for the present conditions of Railways and the institution v=cannot flourish without terminating such officials.

He claimed that Pakistan Railways is intentionally being driven towards privatization, only to bestow some people while, the workers union will not allow the Government to do so.

Hafiz Salman warned that if the Government does not withdraw its decision about Railways’ privatization and does not take any action against corrupt officers, then the protest will be extended further.
