Will you ever do a supporting role in a film like Queen again?
No. I’ll try and not do supporting parts now. I did Queen three years back. I was shooting for Kai Po Che when Vikas (Behl, the director) came to me with Queen. While reading the script, I knew that this film would turn out to be really good and who would not like to be part of a good film? But I am a greedy actor I want to be there on the screen for a longer time.
Does winning the National Award make you feel more secure?
I always felt secure, I have never felt insecure about anything. For me, acting is above everything, I love the craft so much that I don’t think about too many other things. My only worry is that I should keep getting films and should be able to keep exploring myself.
We have seen you in such intense roles? Do you have a preference for such roles?
My role in Ragini MMS was equally challenging as that of Deepak in CityLights though it was not intense but a shady, loud guy. I enjoy doing everything as an actor; I want to explore all the genres of performance in acting. As an actor I don’t keep any boundaries.
Are you interested in the Rowdy Rathore kind of film where you play a larger-than-life role?
My character has to be a hero in one script. I have nothing against such scripts … they should excite me and match my sensibilities. Whenever I do a film I don’t categorize film into a critically acclaimed film or a commercial film. Luckily, all my films have done good business they were all commercially successful; and they were films I believed in.
Do you aspire to be in the A-list?
Being a star is very accidental. It is just a matter of one film and anyone can become a star overnight. I am a very boring guy I don’t sit at home and think what next, I would rather sit at home and think about my next scene and how to work on it.
