Rangers arrest 12 suspects in Karachi

KARACHI: As many as 12 suspects were held during raids of the Sindh Rangers in various areas of the metropolitan city Karachi on Wednesday (today).

According to spokesman of the paramilitary force, raids were conducted in city’s area of Azizabad, Chakiwara, Kharadar and others, from where at least 12 outlaws were taken into custody.

“Illegal weapons and snatched material was also confiscated from the arrested outlaws,” the Rangers spokesperson said.

As per details shared by Rangers spokesman, two Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London group members were also arrested over charges of being involved in cyber crimes.

Two suspects, belonging to Uzair Baloch and Farooq Maya group, were nabbed from Lyari’s area of Chakiwara and Kharadar. The accused were due to the LEAs in several cases of extortion.

Meanwhile, four suspects were taken into the custody from Nabi Bux and Malir colony by the Rangers personnel.

Rangers and police had launched an operation in Karachi on September 5, 2013 following the directives of the then government in the wake of the rising incidents of terrorism, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and targeted killings.

In a separate action of Rangers on December 11, two members of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)South Africa network were arrested.

According to ARY News correspondent, Rangers had arrested two suspects identified as Mustaqeem and Muqeem from North Karachi.

The paramilitary agency personnel conducted a raid at a house in Azizabad, Federal B Area, pointed out by the two accused, and recovered large quantity of arms and munitions, Rangers spokesperson further said.

According to spokesman, 195 rifle grenades, 98 40mm grenades, 52 hand-grenades, 13 illuminate grenades, 19 Avan bombs, 11 RPG7 rockets, 49 safety fuses, 170 detonators, 17 kilo plastic explosives, two RPGs, one grenade launcher, 2MP5 six MG, five LMGs, one HMG and two snipers were among the captured munitions.
